Inside the city walls of Hattem are three museums that are definitely worth a visit: the Dutch Bakery Museum, the Jan
Voerman Museum and the Anton Pieck Museum. Jan Voerman, once a resident of Hattem, is known for his paintings
that include large cloudscapes above the IJssel Valley. Anton Pieck is world-famous for his romantic illustrations. In one
part of the old city wall, you can still find the 14th-century Dijkpoort city gate. On the square around the church and the
side streets and alleys, you can still see the beautiful historic facades of the merchant’s homes and the 17th-century
town hall: evidence of a rich past.
